Editors previewed their third album in its entirety

Gig Review

Industrial indie rockers Editors visited Hard Rock Café to perform in front of an excited audience as part of Q The Music Club on Wednesday September 7.

With their third album, In This Light and On This Evening out in October, Editors were eager to display a new set of songs, running through a track-by-track of their new album in its entirety, thus opting to exclude some familiar hits from their two previous albums, 2005's The Back Room and 2007's An End Has A Start.

Attired in all black, their dark and pounding pop tunes were a stark contrast to recent Sony Ericsson Presents Q The Music Club Live gigs, with Aussie dirt-rockers Jet and twee-folkers Noah and The Whale having played this event in the previous month.

While Editors' new songs were followed with attentive ears from Q competition winners, possibly mishearing the lyrics to Bricks and Mortars ("stealing pots and pans from you all"? It's actually "stealing pounds and pence"), Editors treated them to a couple of the chart hits towards the end. Gaining an engaging audience response from Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors, they then went on to performMunich and You Are Fading, the former of which also featured on Q's new compilation Q The Anthems.

The Staffordshire band is in the first stages of a lengthy tour that will see them play across the UK and Europe until the end of the year.

In This Light and On This Evening is out on October 12.

Fan Review

Our lucky competition winner won a Sony Ericsson phone, opportunity to review the gig and interview the band (shot on a Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-shot™ phone). See below to see what they thought:

It’s been a while now since we’ve seen Editors but tonight the band are keen to show that they’re back, playing songs from new album In This Light And On This Evening and a couple of our old favourites.

With the band so close to the crowd there’s almost a feeling that we’re watching them in our exclusive living room. Editors use this gig to showcase newer songs, including a personal favourite of mine Like Treasure which goes down well with the crowd.

Editors continue to please the crowd playing old favourites such as Munich which rounds off a fantastic night.
