Danish sextet Alphabeat mixed up new and old tracks during their exclusive set at Sony Ericsson presents Q The Music Club Live at Hard Rock Cafe on November 5.
Performing in front of an excited crowd of competition winners, the Danes filled Hard Rock Cafe with their fun-fuelled Euro-pop referencing beats, making more than one pair of toes tap.
Fronted by the charm, charisma and energy of Stine Bramsen and Anders SG, Alphabeat danced and smiled their way through songs from their soon to be released second album The Spell as well as 2007's This Is Alphabeat, with hit singles The Spell, Boyfriend, What Is Happening and 10,000 Nights all brightening up this otherwise dark and chilly autumnal Mayfair evening.
Overcoming some equipment malfunction late on in the set, Stine and Anders ended tonight's performance by engaging the still buzzing crowd in a call-and-response session of "The word is on your lips - say the word!", from their biggest UK hit to date, Fascination, before launching into the 2007single.
A bit Eurovision, but very enjoyable...
Fan Review
Our lucky competition winner won the opportunity to review the gig and interview the band. See below to see what they thought:
For a band like Alphabeat, a crowd of 150 people to entertain is a total breeze. Being used to performing to crowds of thousands, the Danish 6-piece were not inclined to dilute their infamously intense stage energy for this intimate performance, and played a blisteringly tight set of new and old tracks. Much of that energy comes from Anders SG, who spent most of his time jumping around the stage and hitting himself with a Tamborine, sporadically delivering his vocals with amazing precision. And along with fellow singer Stine, the harmonies were absolutely flawless. Overall, an amazing night, and a promising future ahead for Alphabeat, as they prepare to release their sophomore album this January.
